Ringing In The New Year

Keeping with tradition the bells of St Mary’s Ecclesfield rang out the old year for 20 minutes up to 11.55pm . Following a pause during which at precisely midnight our Tenor sounded the 12 strokes the bells rang in the New Year.   Ringing in the New Year with bells is an old tradition which has and still does take place in villages throughout the UK.
